to continue making Pico Rivera a place that we are all proud to call home.
Gustavo Camacho
Since being elected to the Pico Rivera City Council, Gustavo has used his platform to partner with federal and state representatives to bring funding for new city projects and programs. As we move beyond Covid-19, he will continue to support our veterans and families, and provide well-rounded senior and youth programming.
“Gustavo Camacho is a leader who knows how to marshal the resources necessary to address local issues important to his constituents. Whether Federal, State or County, he knows how to work with all levels of government to secure the funds and other resources to deal with issues impacting his city. In times like these you can’t ignore persistence, determination, experience and knowledge. Gustavo Camacho has all these qualities, and it serves him well as he advocates for his constituents. I wholeheartedly endorse Gustavo Camacho for the Pico Rivera City Council.”
Congresswoman Linda Sanchez
“It is always good to see a candidate who is not afraid to take on the tough issues and arrive at solutions to improve the lives of local residents. True leadership is the hallmark of a candidate who puts the greater good of residents above his self-interest or the needs of special interests. For these reasons I proudly endorse Gustavo Camacho for his reelection bid for the City Council of Pico Rivera.”
Assemblymember Lisa Calderon
“The people of Pico Rivera need leaders they can count on. As City Councilman, Gustavo Camacho has been an effective leader, serving as a voice of the people. He worked to bring in $17 million from the State of California to renovate city parks and has been my partner in bringing more county resources into Pico Rivera. That’s precisely what we need more of in government and it’s why I am endorsing Gustavo Camacho for reelection to the Pico Rivera City Council.”
Los Angeles County
Supervisor Janice Hahn

Pico Rivera Mayor
Dr. Monica Sanchez
As a husband and father, Gustavo understands the importance of public safety in your home and your community. He will continue strengthening the highly regarded city Graffiti Abatement Program and work with our Sheriff department, firefighters, and community groups to build a safer city. Make safety and emergency preparedness a top priority through crime prevention and community programs, provide the right tools to our public safety officials and establish community partnerships to build collaboration with law enforcement.
Gustavo will continue maintaining a collaborative partnership with Federal, State, and County Officials for funding opportunities to create more open space and build new parks. Due to the loss of federally leased land we need to refocus on rebuilding our parks with new amenities and uses and build new parks through property acquisition or partnerships with our local school district as we did with Pio Pico Park in 2020 and the implementation of the Parks Master Plan in 2013. These projects have been funded, now staff is currently in design of the City Pool, Rio Hondo Park and Alebrije Dog Park to begin construction in 2023.
During Gustavo’s Mayorship when the pandemic began in 2020, he led the development of a community and economic recovery framework to proactively address major challenges introduced by COVID-19, the economic downturn and impacts from the Whittier Narrows Dam Safety Project. After further modification and ongoing recovery from the pandemic, the framework evolved into what is now being called the Pico Rivera 2035: Community Revitalization Program (PR 2035), a modern-day revitalization designed to stimulate holistic, smart, equitable, and sustained long-term community development and economic growth; this will be a significant opportunity to strengthen the City’s competitive advantage for retaining and attracting businesses, jobs, and private investment into our community.
Gustavo will continue supporting our Veterans. Gustavo values, honors and celebrates all veterans active or retired for their service to our country. He is proud to support Pico Rivera Veterans, the founders of our city, a place we are all proud to call home. He led the efforts to rebuild our new Veterans Memorial Plaza in 2018, provided Covid-19 relief grants to our VFW and American Legion Posts in 2021 as well as coordinated the new Veterans Resource Center (VRC) administered by our Veterans Service Officer (VSO) and city staff is set to open on October 24, 2022.
Gustavo will focus on fiscal stability to sustain strong balanced budgets by holding all city departments accountable. When the pandemic forced the city and businesses to close, Gustavo led a strategy named “Respond, Recover and Thrive” to confront the unknown economic impact and support our residents by continuing to provide essential city services. Today, the city has a strong balanced budget ending with an $8 Million surplus, a healthy 50% reserve and continues to be designated as a “low-risk” city indicated by its fiscal health score given by the State Controllers annual audit.
Reducing homelessness and increasing affordable housing is a top priority for Gustavo. He’s ready to build effective, yet compassionate solutions. He will take on the homelessness crisis by maintaining assigned deputies that directly deal with encampments in our parks and public areas and further develop creative housing solutions and assistance. Gustavo will build on the partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Mental Evaluation Team (LASD MET) who in partnership provide crisis assessment, intervention and targeted case management services for persons with mental illness.
Implement a city led program to establish partnerships with our construction and building trades, colleges and El Rancho High School to provide resources and career opportunities, skill development, and personal enrichment training to help residents prepare for career pathways that provide livable wages.
The pandemic changed our lives. With the effects of COVID-19, the health, safety, and well-being of all our residents, workers, and community became Gustavo’s top priority. From becoming the second city in Los Angeles County to provide testing for all residents to donating over 50 thousand boxes full of food, resources and to establishing vaccines sites throughout Pico Rivera. Gustavo eventually contracted the virus too, but after a 4-day hospitalization and at home recovery he continues to assist others who lost much more and prevent others from similar experiences. Gustavo will continue monitoring the virus in our community to keep you informed of all public health programs, services, and resources for all who live, work, and conduct business in Pico Rivera. We are Pico Rivera strong – Let’s become resilient together.
Rebuilding our roads and parks continues to be one of Gustavo’s priorities, he will continue exploring new opportunities to fund new projects such as the reconstruction of Whittier and Rosemead Boulevard, the city pool, Rio Hondo Park, the Alebrije dog park and our city-wide median beatification projects. He also supported funding new projects to increase traffic safety, signal and intersection improvements as well as the implementation of our Citywide Pavement Management Program to fix our roads. In the next 5 years the city will build over $240 Million in Capitol Improvement Projects (CIP), Gustavo will make sure the work performed meets the highest standards. There are two new projects that are worth highlighting further.
